On the 19th of August Sugarhouse Studios is going Brazilian. A scrumptiously authentic Brazilian meal will be accompanied by an exclusive screening of Elevado 3.5. This full feature documentary records the life of 3.5kms of controversial elevated road and its neighbours. Constructed in the late 1970’s during the military dictatorship the road divided a once prosperous neighbourhood in two. Whilst an infamous breeding ground for drugs and prostitution, the flyover also provides an unexpectedly vibrant public space. With its demolition planned, Elevado 3.5 records how the road has ingrained itself in this dense part of city in unforeseen ways.
